People have many beliefs about pain that are not true. Some people fear they will become addicted to pain medication. Do not skip taking your pain medication because of fear of addiction. Patients rarely become addicted to pain medication.
Many patients are afraid to report that they are in pain for fear that they will be taken off their cancer treatment. However, this also is not likely to happen. You don't have to suffer in pain. Talk to your oncology nurse if your pain isn't going away.
